I agree with you Paula. It mentioned osteo A, what you would expect from a sportsperson
Take care Anne

Hi Audrey,
Its rubbish to suggest cutting out wheat will help R A . I have Coeliac and never eat wheat but it has not helped me. I agree with Paula.

Audrey

My Consultant says that if RA can be cured by a "diet" then it would be available on prescription. Unfortunately there is no evidence that a certain intake of food can cure or alleviate RA.

I agree that rheumys would gladly hand out diet sheets if they felt it would keep RA in remission but I also think it is worth looking into the diet and how some foods do irritate inflammation etc.

Dr Gail Darlington who is a rheumy devised the elimination diet and did alot of research into food and RA.

She was quite recently on BBC4 talking about diet.http://www.dumville.org/aaya/chapter_09.html

I also have coeliac disease which is an auto immune illness too like RA. Having had them both since a small child they are definitely inextricably linked..

Dr Patrick Holford also says some interesting things about food and how it can affect RA but I do believe this is mainly due to OA, gout and other arthritis type illnesses.....
